Built by a medieval Welsh prince, this ancient border fortress was later converted into a lavish country house. Its interiors have been described as the most magnificent in Wales and the baroque terraced garden that extends below its imposing facade is world-renowned. Powis Castle now belongs to the National Trust, and everyone is welcome to come and enjoy its splendour.
Awaiting discovery inside is one of the finest collections of paintings and furniture in Wales. Also housed within its mighty walls is the Clive Museum, which exhibits a dazzling collection of Indian and East Asian treasure.
Powis Castle is a 40 minute drive from Glendower.
